Cabling Infrastructures
Since 1980, we have experienced consistent
growth because of our expertise in designing and installing
cabling infrastructures. In fact, for any company a structured
cabling system is the backbone for a multitude of IT services.
Therefore, proper design and setup of the cabling infrastructure
is crucial for optimum performance today, tomorrow and ten
years from now.
We work with the small and mid-size companies who need their
computers and other devices – from security cameras
and fax machines to telephones and time clocks – that
need to be networked for maximum performance.
Our experience shows that do-it-yourself attempts at networking
save pennies at the front end while performance suffers over
the long term. Without proper design, materials and a competent
installation, a network fails to meet specifications, connectivity
suffers, and information transfer is slowed, costing time,
money and performance.
Today’s Technology
Today’s cutting edge technology can network your communications
for faster service, improved accountability and increased
performance. We have the experience and the skilled staff
to design, install and support any of these technologies:
-
Computer networks, including
Cat 5e, 6, 6e and Fiber
-
Telephone, including digital,
analog, 25, 50 and 100 multi-par cables
-
Surveillance, both coax
and fiber

Computer networks, including Cat
5e, 6, 6e and Fiber
Applications can range from a single-family home to a multi-million
dollar corporation. We run the cables, connect the copiers,
the phone, and the computers and create an integrated communications
environment – and we test each system to ensure that
a system is delivering as designed. Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling,
for example, has built-in specifications that must me met
for optimum performance and testing will include:
-
·4 Specified frequency
range
-
Attenuation
-
Power-sum NEXT
-
Access Control Router
-
Power-sum ACR
-
ELFEXT

-

Telephone, including digital, analog,
25, 50 and 100 multi-par cables
A digital is a compressed signal. Everything goes over two
wires. Whether a phone system is digital or VoIP, we can integrate
any analog devices – such as fax machines, credit card
machines, or cordless phones -- into the system. That eliminates
the need for a separate lines and provides consistent and
uninterrupted communications.
Surveillance, both coax and fiber
optics
We can wire surveillance systems using existing cabling whether
it is coax, fiber optics of Cat 3 or Cat 5 cable. We can use
that. Just by using specially equipped converters to enable
the media to operate effectively on the existing cabling.
This saves people from having to re-wire their home or building.
You have an existing structure with wiring, we can design,
install and consulting to provide optimum service.
Case Study
Museum Quality
The J. Morrissey Company was moving from Hartford to a
new location in Windsor, CT. Alternative Telecommunications
was called to evaluate the communication needs of the new
facility, which was a three story, former museum they were
converting info offices. We wired the building for voice and
data and concealed all the cabling so as not to detract from
the historical look of the building, even applying maple veneer
and staining it to match the original baseboard. The results
were one happy and historically correct customer.
Night Work
We were awarded a competitive bid to install cable in
the Hartford Jewish Community center and the Federation
Building. Alternative Telecommunications was chosen to create
two separate wiring closets and connect them with a fiber
back bone creating a seamless network. The Federation office
had to be done after working hours. We were given a key
so we work in the building over the weekend, which we did,
and all went as expected. On Monday morning we received
a disturbing call from the Federation concerned that we
did not show up to do the work. We told them that we had,
in fact been there, and that the cabling had been installed
and tested. They couldn’t believe the cabling was
installed without disturbing their desks or leaving any
mess.
